What’s the best way to get past the negative feelings or effects of something negative that’s happened in your life? Whether you’ve suffered a loss of a loved one, you lost your job, or someone close to you has moved far away and you’re dealing with grief or depression or some other kind of upset.
The best way to get past that is to go right through it. Avoiding our feelings isn’t healthy for us, any more than staying stuck in those feelings is healthy for us. So my advice is to go through the experience and grow through the experience.
Personal growth is something I talk about a lot, and for good reason. By growing we become more self-aware and we get closer to reaching our true potential. I believe that is our creator’s plan for us and I am motivated to share that idea with others. I want to see everyone become the best version of them that they can. That can be difficult when we’re relying on ourselves for guidance, however.
Talking to a professional counselor or coach, who understands human psychology and can help guide you to a new way of thinking and making better choices, is a huge help. A counselor or therapist can lead you through that growth, to understand your feelings and find a new meaning to assign to events in your life, freeing you to evolve and come out better on the other side.
