Like the title of this blog post says, today’s video is about time. Specifically, how are you spending your time? Are you using your time effectively or are you just staying busy? When it comes right down to it, there are usually just a few activities that are really productive toward whatever endeavor you’ve undertaken.
If you are a business owner, you make money when you sell goods or services, so the most productive activities are marketing and looking for prospective customers. Spending time updating a web site or washing your company car can help the appearance of your business, yes, but ultimately those activities do not directly contribute to the business making money. Clearly, being busy is not the same as being productive. Whether you call it “wasting” time or you use another word, spending time ineffectively does little to nothing to propel you toward your goals.
So that’s one issue related to time. The other is, who are you spending time with? Are you spending your time with people who are like-minded, lift you up, and enrich your life? If not you need to consider how much time you spend with them. Attitudes are contagious. Hanging around negative people can and will have a negative impact on your own attitude. That’s a dream killer, folks. So spend time with those who have a positive influence on you, who challenge you to do and become more.
I was listening to a sermon by Bishop TD Jakes recently and something he said really resonated with me. He said (paraphrasing); You can take my suit. You can take my car. You can even take my house. Those are things. They can be replaced. But if you take my time, it is gone forever. That is a powerful statement well worth contemplating.
Watch the video below. I go into more of my thoughts about spending time. Watch it and let me know if you agree or disagree with me.
