People complain way too much. It’s human nature to complain about things that bother us. It’s time to stop complaining and start living.
We complain about things that don’t work out. We complain about the traffic, we complain about our spouse, and sometimes we complain when there’s nothing to complain about!
When we complain we focus our attention and energy on the things that bother us. Tony Robbins said, “Where our focus goes our energy flows.” Focusing on the negative tends to bring more negative. Specifically, we see more negative. That is, we tend to find more of what we’re focused on. That’s the way our brain is designed to work.
Blame it on the reticular activating system, that part of your brain that filters out the “noise” of life so you can find the things you tell your brain are important. Focus on negative and you’ll find more negative. Focus on positive and you’ll find more positive.
No one ever complained their way to success. Every successful person I’ve heard about this topic from warns against negativity and complaining. There’s even a stop complaining Bible verse. Phillipians 2:14 says, “Do everything without grumbling or arguing” (NIV).
